The 2 Day Breaks, Part 1.

It's a 2-part, here's Part 1.

********************************************

In the Media Hub, dragging his mouse, Pisces moved the audio file forward in the timeline. He frowned, wondering why the audio still felt strangely out of sync. Pressing down the command and Z key, the audio file returned back to its original position. He wasn’t really sure what the problem was, but he still had time, he was going to solve it before-

“Okay! Pack up guys! Shut down your Macs and clean up your desks!”

Damn it.

Pisces sighed, and turned towards the source of the sound. There stood Mr. Handshake, approaching his desk. He went on to the next desk to view the video that Pisces’s teammate, Ying, was editing on.

Realizing he was never going to finish his editing in time, Pisces decided to turn off his Mac. Clicking on the all-too-familiar Apple icon on the top left hand corner of the screen, he moved his cursor towards the “Shut Down” button.

A paper ball flew past his head, distracting him from the button. Following its trail, it landed a few meters away from the wastepaper basket near the door.

“Ah, that was close.”

Whirring around, Pisces saw Mr. Handshake wrapping another paper ball and throwing it almost immediately. The paper ball landed on the table next to the wastepaper basket.

Almost immediately, the entire class jeered at Mr. Handshake, which when he stood up, walked to position himself in a longer distance from the wastepaper basket and announced:

“If anyone can throw this paper ball into the wastepaper basket from this spot, you can get a day off!”

The statement was met with a flurry of excitement, followed by a rush of eager contestants. Jockey was the first to try, taking the paper ball from Mr. Handshake with eager hands. With a powerful throw, Jockey let loose the paper ball, which flew-

-and collided on the door, resulting in laughter from the crowd and a smile from Mr. Handshake.

Charles picked up the paper ball, and went back to the spot. He swung his arm, testing the strength that he was about to use, and seemed satisfied after a few tries. With a deep breath, he threw the paper ball.

The paper ball knocked the outside wastepaper bin, and comically rolled away, resulting with more laughter from the crowd.

Pisces decided to give it a go, there’s nothing to lose anyways, he thought. But before he could pick up the paper ball, Jockey got there first, and passed it to Mohawk to try his luck.

Mohawk steadied himself on the spot with a cool attitude. With a confident swing, he threw the paper ball.

The paper ball hit the rim of the wastepaper bin, and dropped off the side, turning the crowd’s cheer into an awful chorus of groans.

Pisces picked up the paper ball, and walked back to the spot. He glanced at Mr. Handshake, who seemed to be grinning from ear to ear.

“If he can toss the ball into the bin, I’ll give him 2 days off!”

The crowd went into frenzy, watching Pisces eagerly to see him rise up to the challenge or fail miserably.

He was nervous, 2 days off. He could do a lot of things with 2 days off. He began swinging his arms, trying to decide for the perfect shot. With everyone’s eyes on him, it was difficult to even concentrate on the wastepaper bin.

With a loud exhale, he threw the paper ball. The ball flew through the air, with everyone’s eyes following it. It seemed to be like an eternity to Pisces, the paper ball defying the laws of gravity and physics, forever floating in the air, without the care of it being a 2 day off ticket for the person who threw it.

The paper ball landed on the edge of the table next to the wastepaper bin-

-which fell into the wastepaper bin with an empty thump.

The crowd went in disbelief for half a second, and immediately into a loud explosion of cheers and roars, as Pisces began cheering and jumping on the spot. He ran around the hub, giving running hi-fives to his friends and stopped right in front of Mr. Handshake, with the cheers still ongoing.

“So do I get my 2 days?” Pisces smiled cheekily.
